I started this blog to document all my DIY projects and I dedicate it to my son, who made me realize my potential and talent.

My son (Briar) was born at 31 weeks on October 2019 in Houston with a very rare and severe heart defect. Since he was born so early he was not a candidate for surgery at Texas Children's, so we got many second opinions. We went on to Boston Children's where he had 5 surgeries, including 2 open heart surgeries, before he was 6 months old. We were there for a total of 4 months, day in and day out of the hospital. 

When we finally got to bring him home, it was in the height of the pandemic and we all sheltered in place since he was high risk due to his heart and prematurity. I ended up having to leave my job to be his full-time caretaker. During this time, I ordered a bunch of power tools, watched YouTube videos and started transforming our home.

This blog is meant to inspire, empower and spread congenital heart defect awareness. Every DIY project I've done and continue to do is with my heart warrior by my side...thus Made With Heart.
